How fun are these!
The fifth grade created tiles out of white clay and little mosaic pieces. Mindware had donated hundreds of mosaic kits to our district so we have a zillion little mosaic pieces to have fun with.

This project works best if the clay is a bit dry, rather then sticky wet.
Once all the mosaic pieces were down, I slapped clear glaze over the top of each tile and then fired them slowly.

That is so awesome! Are the mosaic tiles made of ceramic or glass? We do mosaics every year and I'm always looking for an easier way to do them without grout.

I am working on a mosaic project right now where we are using styrofoam squares painted with acrylic paint. No mess! And they look really cute! Of course, I wasn't fortunate enough to have pieces donated and these look spectacular!

Marcia, the pieces are ceramic and already glazed on one side. There is no problem with firing them...
Lauren, would love to see some pics of your mosaics, sounds like a fun and unique way to do that.
